12 | CA-3-A030808002 | 2025-03-04T06:33:31 | Community-Driven Initiatives for Food Security - II | Component II of the Community-Driven Initiatives for Food Security (CIFS) project is a fund forwarded to districts in Northern Ghana to support the implementation of food security initiatives. These initiatives are managed and administered using existing local government planning processes and mandates. Component II is implemented directly by national and local Government of Ghana authorities. This is one of two components of CIFS. The total value of the two components is $12 million. The project one-year extension currently underway provides logistical support, training and technical assistance at the regional level. The extension increases the capacity to plan and integrate initiatives, and to coordinate the work of line agencies to reduce food insecurity throughout the Region. | Closed | 2004-04-22T00:00:00 | 2011-10-21T00:00:00 | ["Ghana 100.00%"] | Government of Ghana | ["Public sector policy and administrative management 50.00%", "Agricultural inputs 25.00%", "Food crop production 25.00%"] | 5400000.00 | Results achieved as of the end of the project (May 2011) include: Community-identified district-wide food security initiatives have been successfully implemented in six districts. The project has enhanced collaboration among communities, sub-district bodies, district assemblies, line agencies, and service providers in developing food security initiatives. The project has also supported community-driven, socially inclusive, gender-sensitive planning and implementation processes. The project was extended for one year. During that period, logistical support, training, and technical assistance were provided at the regional level. As a result of increased focus on the capacity of the regional level to play a stronger monitoring and coordination role, almost all of the extension initiatives have been completed or nearly completed. Various line ministries have been more involved in ensuring each initiative’s sustainability and technical proficiency. The regional-level government has been able to achieve this by completing its workplan. The workplan focused on staff training, increased staff, improved office infrastructure, enhanced coordination, and improved communication and collaboration with districts. | Sector budget support | Bilateral | Aid grant excluding debt reorganisation | Global Affairs Canada | WGM Africa | Pre-APP | ["Gender equality", "Environmental sustainability (cross-cutting)", "Participatory development and good governance", "Trade development", "Biodiversity", "Climate change mitigation", "Climate Change Adaptation", "Urban issues", "Desertification", "Children's issues", "Youth Issues", "Indigenous Issues", "Disability", "ICT as a tool for development"] | ["482510.00", "1372823.00", "1148098.00", "1274902.00", "250000.00", "871665.00"] | ["5.55602 -0.1969"] | ["2004000708"] | ["Government of Ghana "] | ["CA-3-A030808001"] | ["5400000.00", "482510.05", "276497.12", "1100053.64", "-5387.42", "1660.65", "1141623.20", "6475.33", "1274902.00", "250000.00", "759950.00", "111715.43"] |
