41 | CA-3-A031537005 | 2025-03-04T06:33:31 | Forest and Environment Sector Program (FESP) Support | The project goal is to contribute to sustainable management of forest and wildlife resources in Cameroon, in order to enable this vitally important economic sector to generate long-term revenue to benefit all of the country. The project provides a financial contribution to a basket fund in order to enable the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife to effectively fulfil its public service missions. The basket fund finances the technical assistance and training required to implement FESP's five components: (i) environmental management of forestry activities, (ii) management of production forests and adding value to forest products, (iii) conservation of biodiversity and adding value to wildlife resources, (iv) community-based management of forest and wildlife resources, and (v) institution building, training and research. | Closed | 2007-03-29T00:00:00 | 2011-11-30T00:00:00 | ["Cameroon 100.00%"] | GIZ - German Society for International Cooperation | ["Public sector policy and administrative management 30.00%", "Public finance management 10.00%", "Democratic participation and civil society 10.00%", "Forestry policy and administrative management 20.00%", "Forest industries 10.00%", "Environmental policy and administrative management 20.00%"] | 10000000.00 | Results achieved as of the end of the project (March 2011) include: Forested areas have grown to 5.3 million hectares of the 6.5 hectares planned. To date, 77% of forest concessions have a management plan. There are ten certified forest concessions, and 23 have a certificate of legality. There are 70 community forests that are managed according to a management plan. These and other results have contributed to more sustainable forest management, better conditions for communities living along the river, and Cameroon’s economic growth. | Basket funds/pooled funding | Bilateral | Aid grant excluding debt reorganisation | Global Affairs Canada | WGM Africa | Pre-APP | ["Gender equality", "Environmental sustainability (cross-cutting)", "Participatory development and good governance", "Trade development", "Biodiversity", "Climate change mitigation", "Climate Change Adaptation", "Urban issues", "Desertification", "Children's issues", "Youth Issues", "Indigenous Issues", "Disability", "ICT as a tool for development"] | ["1000000.00", "3000000.00", "3000000.00", "3000000.00"] | ["3.86667 11.51667"] | ["2006000258"] | ["GIZ - German Society for International Cooperation "] | ["10000000.00", "1000000.00", "3000000.00", "3000000.00", "3000000.00"] |
