60 | CA-3-A031829001 | 2025-03-04T06:33:31 | Africa Stockpiles Program | The Africa Stockpiles Program (ASP) aims to undertake the costly and technically complex challenge of cleaning up obsolete pesticides across Africa and put in place measures to help prevent their recurrence. The Program is a multiparty partnership whose objectives are: a) to clean up stockpiled pesticides and pesticide-contaminated waste in Africa in an environmentally sound manner; b) to catalyze development of prevention measures; and c) to provide capacity building and institutional strengthening on important chemicals-related issues. The World Bank (WB) is the implementing agency as selected by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). CIDA's contribution is provided in form of a grant to the WB for the implementation of the ASP specifically in Nigeria. | Closed | 2005-03-23T00:00:00 | 2009-07-31T00:00:00 | ["Nigeria 100.00%"] | IBRD Trust Funds - World Bank | ["Health education 10.00%", "Agricultural inputs 30.00%", "Environmental policy and administrative management 60.00%"] | 3000000.00 | Results achieved as of the end of the project include: (1) A nation-wide validated inventory database of publicly held stocks was produced (65 tons of obsolete pesticides and a large amount of associated waste); (2) A Country Environmental and Social Assessment was drafted, including a risk analysis of all sites and basic emergency containment measures at priority sites; (3) A communication and awareness-raising program was implemented; (4) A Pesticide Control Bill was drafted. | Contributions to specific-purpose programmes and funds managed by implementing partners | Bilateral | Aid grant excluding debt reorganisation | Global Affairs Canada | WGM Africa | Pre-APP | ["Gender equality", "Environmental sustainability (cross-cutting)", "Participatory development and good governance", "Trade development", "Biodiversity", "Climate change mitigation", "Climate Change Adaptation", "Urban issues", "Desertification", "Children's issues", "Youth Issues", "Indigenous Issues", "Disability", "ICT as a tool for development"] | ["1000000.00", "1000000.00", "1000000.00"] | ["9.05785 7.49508"] | ["2003000402"] | ["IBRD Trust Funds - World Bank "] | ["3000000.00", "-1000000.00", "1000000.00", "1000000.00", "1000000.00", "1000000.00"] |
