61 CA-3-A031842001 2025-03-04T06:33:31 Support to Citizens' Participation This project supported the participation of civilians in the recent electoral processes in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). To that end, three decentralized funds were established: Women and Democracy; Civil Society and Democratic Development; and Public Participation and Governance. Through these funds, CIDA supports civic education, the freedom of the press, the defence of human rights, and inter-institutional dialogue between civil society organizations and government institutions. Through the post-electoral period, the project helps to foster a Congolese society that is better informed concerning its individual rights and responsibilities, that actively participates in the establishment of democratic institutions, and that understands the value of a peaceful society that respects human rights.
