88 | CA-3-A032049001 | 2025-03-04T06:33:31 | Peace-Building from Below | The project facilitates the mobilization, development, strengthening, and networking of community-based organizations (CBOs) and people's organizations in two districts in eastern Nepal that lack basic infrastructure, government resources, and social sector support systems. The project focuses on promoting equitable socio-economic development by empowering local people, particularly marginalized and disadvantaged groups. It aims to improve health and sanitation in rural communities by increasing livelihood and employment opportunities for women, Dalits, and other disadvantaged groups. The project includes advocating and networking for social justice, good governance, and pro-poor development. It supports democracy programming by addressing the needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and ex-combatants, especially women, who are returning home after years of conflict. The project is implemented by Rural Reconstruction Nepal, in partnership with local CBOs, non-governmental organizations, and relevant government agencies. | Closed | 2008-11-06T00:00:00 | 2012-09-11T00:00:00 | ["Nepal 100.00%"] | Rural Reconstruction Nepal | ["Democratic participation and civil society 30.00%", "Civilian peace-building, conflict prevention and resolution 25.00%", "Multi-sector aid for basic social services 20.00%", "Multisector aid 25.00%"] | 3247915.28 | Results achieved as of the end of the project (July 2012) include: 24,198 people benefitted from 57 sub-projects initiated by 39 Community-Based Organizations that improved irrigation, drinking water, schools, toilet construction, and feeder roads.
